What’s up fans, friends, and family?! How is everyone doing?  I am reporting to you live from Wels, Austria my home for the next year.   I apologize about it being so long, I had a busy summer working out and am just now getting settled in Austria.

As you may have read I signed with WBC Raiffeisen Wels in Austria’s top league, A Bundesliga.  I shipped out to Austria from Richmond, VA on August 15th.   My brothers Denzel Bowles and Chris Herron took me to the airport.  We are all really close and it’s always tough to tell people see you in a year or 10 months, but they support me and have helped me through it all.  It’s good to have people like that in your life and I know I’m blessed to be surrounded by really positive people.

I came out here early to meet my coaches, teammates, and management.  I was the first import to arrive in Wels and I really like the fact that I was able to get a head start on getting adjusted to my surroundings, learning the plays, and building a relationship with my coaches.  That’s the type of person and player I am, I like to get a jump start on things and make sure I am prepared for the task at hand.

The coaching staff is the biggest reason I chose to make Wels the next step in my pro career.  My Head Coach, Pete Miller is American and has been coaching on the European scene for years.  He has built great relationships all over Europe and is respected as a great basketball mind all over the world.  Coach Miller and I have built a terrific connection and I know he is going to help me improve my game in order to succeed in Europe.  I couldn’t have asked for a better situation.

This team and league are a little different than Turkey and Uruguay. For one I am able to communicate much better. Almost everyone speaks English on the team and we have two other American imports in Tyler Tiedeman and Ali Farokhmanesh. Big man Corey Hallett hails from Canada and most of the local players can communicate. We also have two players that compete on the Austrian national team. Our squad has the potential to be very talented and I am looking forward to competing for a championship with them!

WBC Wels has actually opened up a brand new facility this year that is really nice. It is a definite upgrade compared to some of the places I played last year and I am able to get access to the gym all the time. For everyone that knows me, that’s big for my happiness, I love and need to work out multiple times a day. I have long and short term goals that won’t ever get accomplished if I don’t dedicate myself to working at them every day.

Overall, I’ve been really pleased with the situation I’m in. The country is amazing, people are really nice and supportive, and I love the squad I am on. I hope and pray that things continue to go well and I am working extremely hard to make sure that they do.

Our preseason has started and I am focused on the year ahead and will make sure to keep you all informed on how things are going through the website.   I missed our first exhibition game with a banged up toe, but am back on the floor now.  We played our first two games against German Pro A teams and we played well together.  It felt good for me to get back on the floor and compete.  I think this team has the potential to be special, much like the OHIO team I played on that went to the NCAA Tournament.  We have a lot of weapons and will be tough to beat when we are playing together.

Check our team out on Eurobasket or translate our team page.

Finally I want to finish up with some shout outs. First one goes out to all my family and friends, my mother, the Herron family, the Bowles family, Coach Hickman, and my college teammates. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without you guys and I want you to know I am grinding to make you all proud. Second shout out goes to my fans! It’s really humbling to see how much you guys care about how I do through your emails, tweets, facebook posts, etc. Having your support through ups and downs helps motivates me and I appreciate how much you guys care.

To all of my fans I just want to thank you guys for continuing to check the site on a daily basis. I want to interact with you guys more through my site and social media sites, so be on the lookout for ways I will be doing such.

Stay tuned to the site as I’ll be releasing a new logo and a new banner here shortly.

As always thank you all for taking the time to read this post!

The information about the Austrian basketball championship is as exciting as watching the live game. I am a fan follower for this incredible game and always used to play basketball during my leisure times. NBA championship is the favorite pastime for me in television.
